The festive season was a truly special time at Lutley Kindergarten, filled with excitement, creativity, and lots of Christmas cheer. π
Over the final weeks of term, the children enjoyed a wide range of festive activities designed to support learning, celebrate family, and bring everyone together in a warm and inclusive way.
Hereβs a look back at everything we got up to during our Christmas and festive weeks.
π A Festive Start to December
As we moved into December, we welcomed the festive season with lots of exciting activities and events. We also took time to recognise that while Christmas is a joyful time for many, it can be a difficult period for some families, and we focused on kindness, togetherness, and having fun.
π Week Beginning Monday 1st December
(Stick Man & Family Learning Week)
During the first week of December, we explored the story Stick Man, along with The First Christmas.
Through these stories, the children:
- Talked about family and what family means to them
- Practised counting numbers 1β10
- Used the Stick Man family to explore size and comparison
Alongside this, the children took part in a variety of craft activities, using different materials and media to create festive artwork and story-inspired creations.
π Week Beginning Monday 8th December
(Polar Express Week)
The following week was Polar Express Week, which the children absolutely loved!
Activities included:
- Using Playmobil to create our very own Polar Express train
- Listening to festive stories including
- Robins Vest
- What the Ladybird Heard at Christmas
- Mogβs Christmas
- Continuing with creative craft activities using a range of materials
This week was full of imagination, storytelling, and festive excitement.
π Week Beginning Monday 15th December
(Party Week)
Our final week of term was Party Week, with lots of lovely activities set out for the children to enjoy.
On Thursday 18th December, we held our Christmas Party session, where all children were invited to attend. The morning was full of fun, laughter, and celebration.
We were also delighted to welcome a very special visitor, who helped make the day extra magical. Families were invited to make a voluntary donation, which went towards supporting prostate cancer, and a collection tin was available throughout the final week.
The kindergarten provided all refreshments, and the children enjoyed festive stories including:
- The Snowdog
- βTwas the Night Before Christmas
It was a wonderful way to end the term together.
π Thank You and Festive Wishe
As the year came to a close, we would like to say a huge thank you to all our families for your continued support throughout the term. Being a registered charity and non-profit organisation, we are incredibly grateful to our wonderful community here in Halesowen.
From everyone at Lutley Kindergarten, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year πβ¨
We look forward to welcoming you back and starting another exciting term together.
